Meet Dr. Sara

My name is Dr. Sara Wernimont, and I grew up in Monona, IA. I graduated early from MFLMarMac and went to Basic Military Training for the Iowa Air National Guard, where I served for 6 years. I continued my education at the University of Northern Iowa, where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

I decided to become a dentist because throughout my life, I’ve experienced numerous dental appointments and treatments, and I’ve spent a significant amount of time in the dental chair to help correct my two missing front teeth. Towards the end of my treatment, I felt a calling toward dentistry. I know how important and how vulnerable it can feel when your smile isn’t great. I know what it feels like to be missing a front tooth and to be embarrassed to smile. I wanted to join this profession to help educate other people, to help them understand the importance of oral health, and to help them with their smiles. I earned my DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from the University of Iowa and joined this practice in New Hampton in 2017. It has been an honor helping this community and the surrounding area with their dental care. I am a lifelong learner and will continue to provide the best possible care for you and your family.

When I’m not thinking about teeth, I am either chasing 4 young children around (Noraa, Scarlett, Tristen and Myles), trying to enjoy a date night with my husband, Chris, or relaxing with a nice long run or a captivating book.
